I really like this bed design. So do you lift the bottom, and the brackets are attached and move forward as well?

The bench part is 32″ wide with an additional 16″ laying on top. The upper part just pulls straight out and sits on the side rail. The brackets are fixed to the sidewall at the 32″ part. The extension has a hardwood face (maple) one inch thick and so it prevents any sag length wise. Then I will pull the mattress fwd to cover the 48″ of total width. The mattress is 52″ wide but because it is squishy it can be made to fit or just hang over. Really, really simple. Let me know if you would like a close up picture to show the detail.
